: It’s Christmas in the home of pickle salesman Jack Polo. Before he returns home, a wave of invisible destruction sweeps through his home, knocking over cards and books and causing the aquarium water to boil. Jack comes in, singing cheerfully, and the mirror in the hallway shatters. He casually says that it cracked because the foundation settled and proceeds on his way. In the mirror, a demon briefly appears. Jack enters the living room and sees the destruction, and dismisses it as raccoons. He says, “Que sera sera,” but then notices that the fish in the aquarium have boiled... again. He blames it on the thermostat and a book flies off the shelf. : An awkward young man in an expensive suit, Mr. Smith, arrives at the office of agent Lew Feldman. Smith wants to speak to Feldman’s client, famous director Gil Hurn, and offers Feldman $35,000 in bullion just to arrange the meeting. Smith explains that he represents a group of foreign investors interested in bring back an old series from twenty years ago: Max Paradise. : Famed musician Peter Bancroft is in his studio trying to compose a new song without success. He puts on some of his music. His daughter Justine comes in and plays his composition and admits she likes it, but Pete insists that it stinks. Justine jazzes up the song and then asks him to help her with her song, one she wrote about him and how much she loves him. Pete’s manager, Tony, arrives and tells him that his company isn’t going to pay him more. Pete snaps at Justine as she plays and insists that he wants as much money as the other big stars. Tony warns him that the record company doesn’t like the new tracks and Pete threatens to walk. Tony gives in and congratulates Justine on her song. Once Tony leaves, Pete tells his daughter that she’ll have to wait. She wonders what’s wrong with getting older and Pete comments that she sounds like her mother.
