Tales of the Gold Monkey (5 Fans)
 |
"Tales of the Gold Monkey" Summary |
| |
Action/adventure show that aired on ABC during the 1982-83 season. "Tales of the Gold Monkey" was about the adventures of pilot/soldier of fortune/adventurerer Jake Cutter (Stephen Collins) in the South Pacific of 1938. Jake made his home base on the island of Boragora. Other regular cast members included Jake's one-eyed dog Jack, his alcoholic mechanic Corky (Jeff MacKay), Bon Chance Louie (Roddy MacDowall), the local magistrate and owner of the Monkey Bar watering hole, Sarah Stickney White (Caitlin O'Heaney), a singer at the Monkey Bar who was in reality an American spy, and Dutch minister Willie Tenboom (John Calvin) who was actually a German spy. Recurring players included Princess Kogi (Marta DuBois), ruler of the nearby island of Matuka, and her chief henchman Todo (John Fujioka). The show was basically a knock-off of the Indiana Jones movies and though it was entertaining most of the time it failed to ignite in the ratings and was canceled after only one season on the air.
