The ABC Afterschool Special were specials that aired on ABC about six times per year. The episodes dealt with issues relating to adolescents, such as parental divorce, drinking, abusive parents, teen pregnancy, homosexuality, self-image, and many more topics. The specials were often shown in high school classrooms across the United States shortly after the airings.
