  Season 6  
Season six brought a new crew of writers and directors to the show, and, as a result, TAGS saw less over-the-top comedy and more realistic humor. Season six was the first season in color. Jack Burns joined the show as Deputy Warren Ferguson. Jack Dodson appeared for the first time as County Clerk Howard Sprague. Last appearances for recurring characters Ernest T. Bass and Malcolm Merriweather. Don Knotts made two of his five guest appearances. Notable guest stars included Charlie Ruggles, Ruta Lee, Mabel Albertson, Maudie Prickett, Jamie Farr, Pat Hingle, and Gavin MacLeod.
