Following the theft of an enormous diamond, the Bureau lays surveillance on all the fences and cutters who could move a stone of that size. But when the net closes, they've caught the fence - the gem and the theft who took it escape. Erskine must use the fence - and someone else - to locate the thief and recover the stone.
