Stratego
Will: Hey, beat the hell out of playing Stratego with Carlton.
Stratego is a strategy board game featuring a 10 by 10 square board and two players with 40 tiles each. One player uses red tiles, one player uses blue tiles. Its object is to find and capture the opponents flag piece, or to capture so many pieces that the opponent cannot move anymore. The game was originally published in The Netherlands and licensed by the Milton Bradley Company for American distribution. | Misery
This episode has several similarities to the novel/book Misery. For starters, the episode title: "Will's Misery." In the book and movie, Annie Wilkes saves Paul Sheldon, who happens to be her favorite writer, from a car accident. At the beginning, she seems one calm and caring person, but soon she reveal to be a psycho with constant mood swings just like Lisa. Also, Lisa's last name is Wilkes, and just like Annie, she keeps Will held on a cabin in the middle of nowhere. Lisa ties Will to a chair like Annie tied Paul to his bed Annie called Paul a "dirty birdy" as Lisa calls Will a "dirty dog." After the car crash, Paul can't use his legs, and Will burns his legs as he tries to get free from the ropes.
The book was one of Stephen King's several bestsellers and the film earned Kathy Bates one Best Actress Academy Award for her portray of Annie Wilkes. |
