After the death of her husband, a young widow from Philadelphia moves her family to a small cottage in Maine, where she plans to support them being a writer. Falling in love with the house, called Gull Cottage by it's first owner, she is also attracted to his portrait which hangs in the living room. But that first night she also discovers he never actually left his home, when she comes face to face with his ghost!
