The Hogans lived in a suburb of Chicago, IL called Oak Park. At first, the matriarch of the family, Valerie, kept the family together while her airline pilot husband Michael flew all over the world with his job. Later in the series, Valerie abruptly died and Michael's divorced sister Sandy came to live with the Hogans.
