It's certainly a matter of opinion, but on many TV sites, the status of 'episode' is accorded to Honeymooners sketches that appeared as part of episodes of various Jackie Gleason (& other) television shows. This treatment seems to be unique to the Honeymooners. The shorts of the Simpsons that appeared on the Tracey Ullman show are generally not considered 'episodes', nor are the sketches of 'Mama's Family' that appear on the Carol Burnett show. As a stand-alone show, there are really only 39 full-length episodes of the Honeymooners that aired in the 1955-1956 television season on CBS.

If there is a commonly accepted justification for characterizing the sketches as 'episodes', I'd appreciate someone enlightening me.
