James Bond comes to TV! The adventures of Naploeon and Illya, the Men from UNCLE, were exciting and a breath of fresh air in 1964. A strong comraderie between the two leads (Robert Vaughn & David McCallum) and the wise counsel of UNCLE's #1, Mr Alexander Waverly, always meant the world was in good hands against the evil Thrush.
Sadly, the producers tinkered too much with the formula resulting in an uneven 100+ episodes over the series 4 season run. Still, there are many episodes which are an absolute joy and even if UNCLE never existed, there will be many a baby boomer who still secretly dreams of what might have been.
