Seven years after The Avengers ended, ITV launched The New Avengers. It tells the same sort of tales - elite British agents called on to deal with the nastiest criminals. This series focused a little less on the truly bizarre and more on Steed's past as an operative. Together with the younger agents Purdey and Gambit he takes on menaces to himself and to England from all over the world. And yes, someone does revive his ongoing adversaries from the previous series, The Cybernauts.
