Episode Notes
Story first published as "Wake for the Living" in Dime Mystery (September, 1947).

Episode Quotes
Charles Braling: What do you want?
Richard Braling: You know I always pop by each week to see how you are.
Charles Braling: Your attendance here, Richard, is prompted by one of two motives. Plan A, to see if I'm dead. Plan B, if I am unhappily still living, touch me for some money.

Richard Braling: You can't die, Charles. Who would I have to hate then?

Richard Braling: I'll be damned.
Charles Braling: I hope so.

Charles Braling: Help yourself to another drink, Richard. Sun will be over the yardarm in eight hours.

Charles Braling: Lend me a hand with this, uh, lid.
Richard Braling: For your coffin? Any time.

Analysis
Changes from the short story:

* Charles Braling is established as not just an inventor in the episode, but a robotics expert. This allows the addition of several clockwork robots, and removes the character of a gardener from the short story.
* St. John Court, the lawyer, does not appear in the short story.
* Richard's death is exceedingly more graphic in the short story, where he is embalmed while still alive.
