While out riding their horses, the Saddle Club comes across Raffael and his mother, who travel around to various towns doing odd jobs. When Raffael says that they need a place to stay, the girls tell them that they can stay near Pine Hollow and do some odd jobs. Things are going well for he and his mother, until a neighbor of Pine Hollow accuses Raffael of stealing a horse of his, so in retaliation, the neighbor steals his horse, Diablo. Upon finding out that the horse is gone; the girls help Raffael look for him.
