When Dibley's vicar passes away the residents of the village are surprised when they learn their new vicar is a woman. David Horton Horton is not happy with this and tries to get Geraldine removed. David is forced to eat humble pie after the church is packed out when Geraldine gives her first service.
Dibley is selected to appear on Songs Of Praise. Many of the locals try out when Geraldine tries to set up a church choir but not everyone is successful in their auditions. When Geraldine meets the show's director she falls for him whilst David takes a shine to show's female camera woman. Alice has problems reading the church sermon and Geraldine and David are both disappointed when they find out that the objects of their desire are a couple.
Geraldine is determined that the village fair will be a success. Geraldine is desperate to get a celebrity to open the event but suffers some set backs whilst trying to get one. At the very last minute Kylie Minogue shows up in the village and agrees to open the fair making it a success much to David's annoyance.
A great storm destroys one of the church's stained glass windows. Gerry attempts to raise the money for a new one but runs into problems when no one can remember what the window actually depicted. After endless discussions concerning llamas, sheep, and Moses, the parish council discovers that the window depicted Noah's Ark. Gerry is ready to proceed with the replacement of the window when she finds an even better use for the money.
Gerry and David are having a disagreement. It's a question of a bus service or a golf course. The villagers take Gerry's side, and before she knows it, she's running against David in the District Council elections. Everyone on the parish council supports her, painting signs, writing songs, and even working on a mud-slinging campaign. The Vicar doesn't want to run, but she does want the bus service.
Gerry plans a service for the pets of the village, which David finds completely ridiculous. Of course, it does give Dibley and St. Barnabas some publicity. Surprisingly, the church is packed on the day of the service, and most of the animals behave. Also in this episode, Alice discusses her slightly paranoid theories about I Can't Believe It's Not Butter and learns that her budgie Carrot never rose from the dead.
Geraldine's ramblings about the Dibley Easter bunny end up being interrupted by the sudden illness of a much loved parishioner.
Geraldine ends up agreeing to attend three different Christmas lunches which becomes a bit of an ordeal.
Geraldine's plans to get Alice and Hugo together end up succeeding beyond her even her wildest dreams.
When Dibley gets it's own radio station everyone is determined to have a slot on it. Alice attempts to impress her future father-in-law.

Everyone gets ready for Alice and Hugo's wedding, however Alice's shocking revelation at her hen party may cause issues for the happy couple. Elsewhere David's brother Simon also shows up for the wedding as a potential love interest for the Vicar.
The vicar attempts to spend an evening alone with Simon but there are constant interuptions. Alice and Hugo return from thier honeymoon and Alice could be pregnant.
The villagers prepare for the performance of the annual nativity play.
David makes a shocking proposal to Geraldine while the christening of Hugo and Alice's baby draws near.
The local water board come up with the idea of solving drought in the area by relocating the village.
As Geraldine celebrates ten years in Dibley she is accused of being gay as Alice spreads gossip after she finds Rachel Hunter dressing in the Vicar's house and the Vicar giving her hints.
Geraldine's 40th birthday is approaching and she doesn’t want anyone making any fuss about it but they instead decide to send her to a dating agency in an effort to cheer her up. Geraldine wants to do something special to remember the 20th anniversary of Band Aid but she discovers that no one cares. Geraldine is determined to change the way they think.
Geraldine attempts to bring the villagers together by organising some local activities. She is not happy when she discovers that David has sold his cottage to a Londoner as she sees an influx of weekend townie visitors as one of the reasons the community is eroding. After she pays a visit to the new arrival to tell him how she feels she has a change of heart after meeting him.
Geraldine's excitement at planning her wedding is interrupted by her friends who insist on arranging it all for her. Geraldine finds herself being forced to accept their help. Gerladine ends up hoping her big day is everything she has hoped for.
