When an orphaned child of an old friend of Olivia comes to the mountain to get married, things don't get off to a good start for Young Olivia and Bob, her fiancé from the city. After a few days on the mountain, Bob tells Young Olivia that he will in no way be apart of a country wedding, due to his misconception of country people. Upon hearing what he had to say, the Walton's decide to call off the Shivaree they planned, but fail to tell Ike and Yancy about the call off. After Olivia calms Bob and tells him about the mountain customs, Young Olivia and Bob get married and are sung to by the Walton’s and their friends.
