When the family learns that Grandma will be coming home from the hospital soon, they are relieved, especially since her stay there is becoming a financial burden to the family. When Grandpa and John arrive at the hospital though, they soon learn that Grandpa wanted to take her back to the mountain because of how much he misses her. However, when he voices his disapproval of the hospital staff, Grandpa soon gets banned from visiting Grandma anymore.
Upon their arrival back home, Grandpa quickly becomes depressed without having Esther around, and the family soon begins working on getting Grandpa’s spirits up. After a few days of his moping around the house, John Boy soon asks Grandpa what Grandma would say if she saw the way he was acting. Realizing she wouldn’t let him mope around the house, Grandpa starts to cheer up, but is still unable to sleep since he can’t tell Esther goodnight. Thanks to Mary Ellen’s help, he soon gets his wish; while waiting outside her hospital window, Grandpa is able to say what he wants to his wife.
Meanwhile, after Aimee runs around in a meadow with Elizabeth, they soon find their way back to Ike and Corabeth’s store. However, when Corabeth sees how dirty their shoes and that Aimee tore her new dress, she does her best to dissuade Aimee from playing with Elizabeth. It doesn’t take long for Aimee to believe that Corabeth doesn’t love her the way that she is and the only way she is trying to change her is to make her a respectable and proper young woman like her. When Grandpa learns what Corabeth has been doing with her new daughter, he tries to tell her that she should let the young girl act like a child and to let her have fun. When Corabeth realizes how much fun it was growing up and spending time with friends doing nothing, she decides to let Aimee play with Elizabeth again. Share this article with your friends
