As Monica, Gloria, and Andrew try to find a way to get Tess to sing again, Monica gets a new assignment to help an old friend in Joseph Wells. Upon her arrival in town, Monica soon finds Kevin and his foster son Nathan on the day Nathan’s adoption is finalized. Things don’t go as planned when Nathan’s mother shows up to contest the adoption, ultimately breaking Kevin’s heart, especially when he finds out that Monica knows Hannah. Later, when Kevin and Nathan go see Tess, Kevin introduces Nathan to his mother and the three of them get to know one another.
