| 12 :02x01 - Interview With An Angel (Sep/23/1995) | | Monica's latest assignment, to be interviewed by Callie Martin, a cynical reporter that is writing an expose on angelic experiences, is given to her by an unusually grumpy Tess. Monica decides to tell Cassie a story about one of her recent cases for the interview where a heart transplant surgeon, Dr. Joe Patcherek, is set to operate on the man, Ethan Parker, that has recently killed his five children in a car accident while he was drunk driving. Things haven't been good for Joe and his wife, Lisa, since the accident, and they are beginning to drift apart. Lisa has been spending all of her time dedicating herself to completing a sculpture that will be placed in the children's wing of the hospital as a memorial to their children. Lisa tries and tries to get Joe to forgive her, Ethan, and God for what happened, but to no avail. Monica, the transplant coordinator, has no choice but to stop time in the middle of Ethan's surgery to reveal herself to Joe and tell him that it is not up to him to decide whether or not Ethan gets to live, it's only up to God. Joe finally agrees and completes the surgery successfully, and when he's through, Lisa reveals the sculpture that she has been working on- a statue of their kids sledding which is what they were on their way to do when the dreaded accident happened. | 13 :02x02 - Trust (Sep/30/1995) | | Monica, now a rookie cop, is put on the case of helping Zack, a police officer that it now returning to the force after being fully rehabilitated from a gunshot wound. Zack's old partner, Ben, is extremely upset because Zack has asked for a new partner when he returns. While out combing the streets, Monica helps Zack bust a drug dealer, Mason, but Zack unexpectedly steals all of the drugs to keep for himself. Zack misses Mason's preliminary hearing, and a now free Mason assaults a teenage girl. Kate's son, Thomas, has a record, and this doesn't help any when he is caught at the scene of a murder and robbery and taken to trial by the murder victim's father. He insists that he's innocent of the entire crime, but Kate soon learns that Thomas only stumbled across the crime when he heard the shots, but then decided to rob the house of the victim when he noticed that she was dead.
