On her very first assignment as a caseworker, Monica is told to stick close to a young boy named David Morrow who tells her that his younger sister died in a car accident and his mother has since run away because she feels responsible for her child's death. Feeling led by her "instincts", Monica goes to try to find David's mother instead of sticking close to David, but when she thinks she's found her, it turns out to be the wrong woman. Monica eventually does find her, but she has an extremely difficult time getting her to go home. Now Monica must try to fix the assignment with God's help or she faces the possibility of being demoted back to search and rescue.
