Kate Prescott is a woman with practically no friends, so Monica's assignment is to become Kate's friend until Kate comes to the place where she needs an angel. Kate's son, Thomas, has a record, and this doesn't help any when he is caught at the scene of a murder and robbery and taken to trial by the murder victim's father. He insists that he's innocent of the entire crime, but Kate soon learns that Thomas only stumbled across the crime when he heard the shots, but then decided to rob the house of the victim when he noticed that she was dead. Monica's real assignment now comes into play as she tries to help Kate come to the point where she can truly forgive her son.
