When Monica is assigned to an old assignment from her past that she regrets because she feels like she failed, she is worried that she will make the same mistakes again and fail twice. At first, things aren't looking good, but then Tess informs her that the only way for her to help her assignment, Leonard, this time around is for them to both remember the past. Monica finds it difficult getting him to remember because the memories are so painful for him. But she eventually persuades him to remember and learns that she never actually failed. Her mistake caused Leonard to meet his future wife, Penny, who he spent 49 years with.
