A note about Rose: this character's actress changed after the first series, and so the different actresses transformed the character in slightly different ways. As such there are two Rose characters in the character guide; however, for all intents and purposes, they are meant to be the same.
Rose is an astute and intelligent woman, who has chosen to focus her life on lust and romantic intrigue. There is a dichotomy between her true self and the person everyone believes her to be. For example, once she was on the phone with a lover in a state that seemed emotionally out of control, then
Onslow asks for some betting tips and immediately she turns to a cool, calm, and collected woman, then reverts back to her 'other' self. This illustrates that she, in fact, has everything under control and that the emotionally distraught nature is well harnessed and used to her advantage.
Her attitude and actions are not merely frowned upon by
Hyacinth, but also the
Vicar's Wife, who is more than a little angered by her vampiric tendencies towards her husband
the Vicar. Men, on the other hand, can't get enough of her short skirt, long legs, and amorous advances.
