The Vicar's wife is the diplomat of the pair. She, unlike her husband
the Vicar, has the patience needed to deal with '
the Bucket woman'. More often than not she is unfairly left to deal with
Hyacinth as her husband escapes getting caught talking to her.
Since her husband is handsome, or 'dishy' as
Rose refers to him, she is highly jealous and often warns him to 'keep away from the ladies.' The trouble is, he is often placed in precarious situations by
Rose, and happens to get caught in the 'act' despite the truth that nothing is actually going on. Despite her docile nature when it comes to
Hyacinth, she is anything
but docile when it comes to her husband, and often displays a fiery temperament.
Being the wife of a vicar her life is mostly concerned with church events and is heavily involved in most things her husband is involved with.
