The 'Dishy' Vicar is the moral backbone of the community; however, he is less self-righteous than
Hyacinth. Similarly to
Emmet, she often accosts him and asks him to do ridiculous things, such as needing spiritual counselling as to which colour her new kitchen should be. When not permitted a way out, he is often kind and patient enough to do as she
asks demands.
More often than not, he tries to hide and/or give the responsibility to
his wife. Apart from
Hyacinth, her sister
Rose often puts him in a predicament, as she is nearly constantly throwing herself at him, in turn, enraging
his wife. Another trouble the family brings is Daddy. Often he will come around the church – uninvited – whenever there is a function, and molest the ladies.
