There's no need to fear, Underdog is here!

Underdog was created in October 1964, and appeared as short segments in the cartoon King Leonardo, but was eventually replaced by other cartoon segments. It soon achieved its own show, and aired on NBC in the mornings. It ended in 1974, but syndications can be found on the Boomerang network.

The show was about a dog named Shoeshine Boy, who accidentally got super-hero powers in a lab accident. He uses his powers for good, and sometimes to impress the beautiful Sweet Polly Purebred, who was the classiest pooch in town.

In 2007, a CGI version of the show is planned, starring My Name is Earl's Jason Lee as the tile character. Frederik Du Chau is planned to direct the film, and the script is written by Adam Rifkin and Joe Piscatella. Jim Belushi is also planned to star, and filming is currently in progress in Providence, Rhode Island.
