This short-lived British show centres on Dr John Cornelius (called 'JC' for short and played by the late Nicholas Clay) and his girlfriend-assistant the gorgeous Samantha Valentine (Kim Thomson).
'JC' is a part-time police psychologist whose main job is teaching at the local university. Other regulars include Professor Owen Griffiths (Alan David), JC's academic head of department, and Inspector Cadogan (Stephen Yardley), who is in charge of his work for the police.
Naturally, Cornelius gets called in as a consultant on a string of weird, wonderful and whimsical mysteries. In the highest traditions, the police are a little plodding in their methods, so JC and Samantha are always in the thick of the action and usually have to crack the case themselves.
