Episode Notes
The story of this episode would later be made into a movie in 1970 entitled A Man Called Horse starring Richard Harris in the title role.

The Season Two episode, The Bije Wilcox Story, was also based on the original story which formed the basis for this episode.

Episode Quotes
Adams: Where'd you pick up the old squaw?
Horse: That squaw is my mother.

Yellow Robe: What are you called?
Horse: I have no name.
Old Woman: Everyone has a name. Even the dogs.
Horse: I'll think of one.

Yellow Robe: The sport is over. Return to camp. For a horse, there is always work.

Little Hunter: A Sioux is a Crow enemy not yours.
Horse: Any enemy of yours is an enemy of mine.

Adams: Sometimes it takes a man time to find out where his home really is.

Adams: You never did tell us what your real name was.
Horse: Yes, I did. It's Horse.

Episode Goofs
Terry Wilson is billed in the ending credits but does not appear in the episode.

Analysis
Probably the best episode of the show's premiere season. Better than the 1970 movie that was based on the episode mainly because Ralph Meeker gives a much more effective performance here than the hambonish Richard Harris did years later.
