Episode Quotes
Gilliam: I always insist on earning my own way wherever I go.

Freda: Isn't this a rather strange place to find a Princeton man?
Gilliam: Well, I understand you can find a Princeton man most anywhere.

Freda: (about Gilliam) I'm sure he's a teacher but what else is he?

Hawks: Charlie, you'd be happy with Death Valley if they had a saloon in the middle of it.

Wooster: By golly, I never saw a man so anxious to get to work as you.
Gilliam: Time is fleeting, Mr. Wooster. A day lost is a day lost forever.

Adams: You're pretty strong for a school teacher.
Gilliam: I believe in keeping the body as well as the mind in shape, Major.

Hawks: Why would he wanna get rid of her?
Adams: Maybe 5,000 acres of Sacramento Valley land and nobody standin' in the way except a sharp-eyed old lady.

Analysis
Joshua Gilliam is one of the slimiest characters in Wagon Train history and meets a fitting fate at the end.
