Episode Notes
Though he'd appeared once before in Weight of Command, Denny Miller becomes a regular in this episode playing Duke Shannon. Miller would stay with the series until the end of Season Seven.

Robert Horton does not appear in this episode.

This episode features one of the series' best fights between Denny Miller and Terry Wilson.

Episode Quotes
Wooster: Drinkin' sweet cider ain't drinkin'.

Henry: Except for pannin' a little gold every now and then I am dead set against work of any kind.

Duke: Are you always this unfriendly?
Hawks: No, just when somebody slips up on me in the middle of the night.

Duke: What kind of a fellow was this Mr. Sterkel?
Hawks: The kind you wouldn't wanna let get behind you.

Duke: (to Charlie) A man can only push himself so hard. After that, he's just foolin' himself to think he's doin' any good.

Hawks: Your granddaddy teach you how to fight?
Duke: Not good enough, I guess.
Hawks: It's good enough for me.

Episode Goofs
This episode illustrates the inconsistencies that sometimes plagued the series. Though Duke Shannon had appeared once before in Weight of Command, here he's a total stranger to the wagon train crew when he walks into their camp.
