Mystique cannot turn into something with a smaller mass than she is, nor can she turn into an inanimate object like a statue (with no arms no less) the ffirst is, because it's impossible... a small bird with her mass would not be able to fly, neither would say if she turned into a bird of prey. the latter is, she wouldnt be able to breath as a statue. |

iirc scientists can prove that a bee can't fly, so can you really say that the bird couldn't ?
