Episode Summary

Claudius, Emperor of Rome, sets down to write the story of his life. His narrative begins during the rule of Augustus, the first of the Roman emperors. Augustus is married to the treacherous Livia who begins a plot to have her son from a prior marriage, Tiberius, inherit the throne of her husband.
