Buford Pusser is the big, brawling sheriff of McNairy County, Tennessee. He uses a 4-foot club to enforce the law and is hated by the local criminals. His wife Pauline was killed in an assassination attempt on Buford; he must now raise his two children, Michael and Dwana, with the help of his father Carl while chasing the criminals.
