Brian Potter, played by Peter Kay
The king of the castle, Brian Potter is the 'entrepreneur' of The Phoenix Club. Like many other stereotypical business owners he's as crooked as they come. He loves to cut corners when doing things if it will save him a bit of cash. This characteristic led to the loss of his license as a result of an insurance investigation after it burned down.
Apart from that, he is also both cantankerous and self-centred. He's often calling people names ('shithead' and 'dickhead' are among his favourites), and more often than not, he will gladly let someone else take responsibility and blame for his own actions: such as when the opening night when the power went out; or when he instigates a traffic violation and Gerry gets stuck with the fine.
But 'never say die' must be his motto. Confined to a wheelchair, he is anything but confined when it comes to his spirit. He has had two clubs burn down and another shut down from a flood. Yet, he continues to rebuild and carry on his dream of being the best club in Bolton. |
