The Phoenix Club in Bolton is rising from the ashes, but only just. Preparations are fevered as they put the finishing touches on the club in time for the grand opening (15 pounds a ticket, including dinner and Bingo) that will feature not only the folk band 'Half a Shilling', but also TV's own Roy Walker. But will this momentous occasion go off without a hitch?

Problems persist when a smoke machine goes haywire and results in the death of an employee, and after the TV gets stolen things are looking grim. Arrive the newest arrival: a mechanical bull. The punters haven't been this excited since 'they printed that paedophile's address in t'paper.' It leads to a wild west theme night including a gun fight between rival towns; what could go wrong?

Things are going well, as the Phoenix Club has a sold out Psychic night with Clinton Baptiste. What's more, they just got a new wide-screen TV -- to replace the stolen TV from the previous episode -- and some of the employees become addicted to TV shopping with the 'Armchair Super Store'. But it's not all fun, as Potter has to go to a fire-safety seminar, and soon has fire-safety troubles of his own. Can they be solved in time for the sold out psychic night?

But what they don't know is that Brian told them [the committee] Jerry is dying; and when Jerry discovers this, just having been given the all clear, he is more than displeased. Brian's problems mount as he fires his band because of their inability to perform that night (due to a pre-planned obligation vis-a-vis the Karate Kid, the musical).

Speaking of opportunity, while shopping Brian spots a Japanese beer company who are prepared to give away a year's supply of beer for free, and Brian is itching to get it with a pub quiz night. This ruffles the feathers of Jerry who insists that he's in charge.

Meanwhile Max and Paddy spot some business they thought was taken care of, only now they're in trouble for not getting the job done properly.
