In 1940, during the London blitz, the four Pevensie children (Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy) are sent to stay with Professor Digory Kirke, who has a big house in the country. One day, Lucy hides in a big wardrobe full of fur coats and finds it is a door to the land of Narnia, which is buried in snow. Once there, she is helped by a faun called Mr Tumnus.
Meanwhile, Lucy is followed into Narnia by Edmund, who meets the White Witch.
