In 1998, "The Match Game" came back around for a fourth run on TV. Host Michael Burger filled the shoes of Gene Rayburn and Ross Shafer for this time around, and other changes (five panelists instead of six) abound as well. This show works almost exactly as the others did, however, fans of the original "Match Game" were left disappointed without the classic theme song and no Brett Somers/Charles Nelson Reilly team-up. The oft-described "dud" lasted only one season. |
