As Richard returns from the now ended war in France, Horse Guards assigns him to his new post in Yorkshire. This post just happens to be in his hometown. Upon his arrival he mets with Parfitt, who owns several mills in the area, and he tells Richard of the unrest caused by the locals by them burning mills and breaking machines. He also tells him of a particular local named Matt Truman who is to be arrested on site. As Richard helps the militia try to keep control of the area, he begins to learn of the unjust things that are actually going on there. With the help of the additional eyes and ears of Lady Anne, he begins to learn the truth behind the mill burning and machine breaking. Also, while in his hometown, he wants to learn more about his Mother and discovers he has a brother. Irony stikes as Lord Rossendale, who had taken part on Richard's assignment away from him and Jane, has an aunt die and leave him an estate nearby. Richard learns this information and decides a little visit is in order.

Episode Quotes |

Pat: Who's there to fight in Yorkshire?
Richard: Englishmen I suppose.
Pat: Oh, not all bad news then. | Richard: So how do you find Yorkshire, Pat?
Pat: Well, they do have an awful way of massacring the English language.
Richard laughs | Parfitt: What do you think of him, George?
Wickham: Rides like a peasant, dresses like a peasant, eats like a peasant, but fights like the devil.
Parfitt: He's a match for you then isn't he. | Pat: I didn't know we made the papers.
Richard: Well you'd have to read for that, Pat. | Lady Anne: But take care, Richard, please.
Richard: I will take care.....of you. | Pat: Hey, you know what they say?
Richard: What?
Pat: Vive la France! |
