Harry Springer, ex-army, buys a hotel in Birmingham England to try to make some money on the 1992 Olympic games. Unfortunately, Birmingham's bid fails.
An old army buddy of Springer's, Duggie Strachan, checks into the Olympic Hotel (so named by Springer). Strachan and Springer are on opposite sides of the political spectrum, but as one saved the others life, they remain "friends."
