Episode Recap

Yugi has a nightmare where he finds Yami dressed in a type of armor, fighting against a monster. Yugi asks what's going on, but Yami says it's not the time to ask questions. The monster grabs Yami and Yami tells Yugi to leave while he can. Yugi asks who the monster is and he says he'll find out when he joins the game. After Yugi wakes up, he sees the Millennium Puzzle flashing.
The next day, Yugi wonders why his grandfather isn't home yet. He remembers his grandfather saying that he was leaving for a secret expedition, but didn’t say where he was going.
Meanwhile, Joey tries his hand at a contest where the winner gets free tickets to India for a vacation.
When school starts, Téa and Yugi are playing a new game called Capsule Monsters. Téa plays the Happy Lover (according to the summary of “Aftermath” at Yu-jyo.net, where Pegasus seems to have the Duel Monsters version of the monster). Yugi plays the Celtic Guardian. Joey interrupts their game when he gets to class, eager to show them the prize he’s won.
When at the airport, a man asks if they’re the contest winners. He leads them to a small plane. When over the forests of India, the engine quit and the plane falls into a river. The gang gets out safely and Téa says that the pilot went to send a distress signal. Joey and Tristan run off to explore and Téa and Yugi decide to follow. They find a man that seems to be dehydrated. He drops a bandana that Yugi recognizes as his grandfather’s. The man’s name is Alex and he was working with Mr. Muto until Mr. Muto disappeared. He says he’ll lead them to the last place he saw him.
Yami notices the coincidences of the trip - the plane fell in the place where Mr. Muto was working and so forth. Alex stops at a pyramid, right in the jungle. He says it could have something to do with Alexander the Great. Yugi and the others decide to try finding Mr. Muto and Alex leads them through the pyramid. Téa observes that Alex knows a lot about the pyramid for someone who’s only been in it once, but he says he’s just very observant. He shows them the fork where him and Mr. Muto split up at and they follow the path to a large room with a map painted on the floor. Joey runs ahead of them, but when he steps on one of the colored tiles, he gets sucked inside. They figure out that it was the same thing that happened to Mr. Muto and Yugi says he’s going to go after the two and for the others to stay there. But Téa and Tristan say they’re coming too and they all hold hands as they jump in.
Weird devices have appeared on everyone’s arms and a belt around their wastes, which they’re not sure the reason of. Yugi sees some large stones and wonders if anything’s inside. But then some capsule monster bugs come after them and they run. When another bug comes up in front of them, Yugi goes one way and Téa and Tristan another. As they call each others’ names, Joey hears their echoes from a high mountain. Joey tries calling Yugi’s name, but then a bird picks Joey up and carries him away.
Yugi jumps into a river to get away from his giant praying mantis. Téa and Tristan dive into a cave to get away, but it turns out to be a slide leading to a beach. When looking behind them, they discover two capsule monsters stuck in the sand. They dig themselves out and Téa finds that one of them are the Happy Lover from the Capsule Monsters game. The other one is the Electric Lizard.
Yugi calls Tristan and Téa’s names, but without an answer. Then the praying mantis finds him again and Yami takes over and jumps out of the way. He touches one of the stones, or capsules, by accident and releases Celtic Guardian. Yami remembers the game him and Téa were playing at school, wondering if it could have something to do with this place. The guardian slays the mantis and then enters Yami’s Caspule Monster loader and turns into a small capsule. Yami realizes that he was right, they are in the world of Capsule Monsters.
