Visual: The movie Sniffles is watching shows a sleekly designed car going through time after it reaches a certain speed.

This is a reference to the 1985 film entitled Back To The Future, which starred Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd; it was directed by Robert Zemeckis. Its plot focused on a man who befriended a scientist, and ultimately used his time machine car, which was activated when it reached eighty-eight miles per hour, in order to go back into the past.

Visual: Lumpy discovers a merry-go-round behind the bushes, causing Cuddles, Giggles and Toothy to run towards it and to jump on top of it, while Lumpy prepares to start pushing them.

This is a reference to the first episode of Happy Tree Friends, “Spin Fun Knowin’ Ya”, which was released as an internet short back in 2002. The first episode had Cuddles, Giggles and Toothy being spun around on a merry-go-round by Lumpy, which resulted in the death of the first three mentioned characters. This episode of the series, “Blast From The Past”, explained in more detail the events behind the first episode of the series, though it also served as a direct reference in order to pay homage to the series’ roots.
