The Olympics had now returned to it's home, Greece, the birth place of both ancient and modern Olympic competition. And this Olympics marked the first time in history that a record 201 National Olympic Committees participated in the event. With an event total of 301, an estimated 3.9 billion television viewers tuned in worldwide.
