Fat Man: Nagasaki
In the stairway where the bomb is located, Bouma mentions that the note on the device, "To 茅葺 (Kayabuki) With Love", is reminiscent of bombs such as Fat Man. Fat Man was the third atomic bomb to see use, and was the second one dropped on Japan. On August 9th, 1945, Fat Man was deetonated almost 2,000 feet over Nagasaki, destroying much below it, and helping the United States to effectively end World War II. The parallel here is that Nagasaki is one of the main focuses of the series, since it is where the artificial island of Dejima is located. More information on Fat Man can be found here. |
