| Koukaku Kidoutai: Stand Alone Complex |
| Main: |
|
| Show Info: |
|
| Show Tidbits | Speaking the Show Title:
The secondary title of the series, mangaka (漫画家) Shirō Masamune first gave his work the English title Ghost in the Shell, is the Japanese title「攻殻機動隊」or, translated into Latin characters (Rōmaji), the title is Koukaku Kidoutai (also Kōkaku Kidōtai). English translators will usually write the Japanese title as Kokaku Kidotai. The Japanese characters (Kanji) 攻 and 動 are actually spoken, in the Chinese reading (Onyomi), as Koh-oo and Doh-oo respectively. The 'o' and 'u' are always spoken long in Japanese and a lengthened 'o' and 'u', usually shown with a macron placed over the letter ('ō' and 'ū' respectively), are two vowels pronounced together. Koukaku is pronounced Koh-oo-kah-koo and Kidoutai is pronounced Kee-doh-oo-tie. For foreign speakers, the easiest way to pronounce the Japanese title is to pause on the 'ko' in 'Koukaku' and the 'do' in 'Kidoutai'. |
