Village vicar Reverand Andrew Parker becomes involved in the lives of his parishioners. When he is replaced by Reverand Stephen Young, the new vicar becomes just as embroiled in local life. The first two series were lighthearted, the later series took on more serious social issues. When Reverand Stephen Young was promoted to
Archdeacon, the series changed location and the title was modifed to Our Man From St Mark's.
