Frost's Weekly

Frost's Weekly

David Frost returned to the BBC with this all-comedy series scripted by Eddie Braben, the regular writer at this time for Morecambe and Wise. Braben, a Liverpudlian who left school at 14 and worked on market stalls and as a refuse collector before becoming a professional writer, seemed an unusual choice to partner the Cambridge graduate and jet-setting Frost, but the two worked well together. Frost's Weekly - developed from Braben's own radio series The Worst Show On The Wireless, which aired on the BBC earlier in 1973 - utilised a magazine format to link the comedy items. These were performed by a regular troupe that included Bill Pertwee and Alison Steadman, who also appeared in the radio series.
