"Soldier of Fortune, Inc." follows retired Col. Matt Shepherd SOF (Brad Johnson) as he goes to protect the interests of the government and is mainly focused on the lives he has saved rather than the rules. When Xavier Trout (David Selby), a former commanding officer approaches him to take up a group of "unofficial" officers, he agrees to help them in anything they need.

The series was a weekly action adventure series seen in syndication. The show was broadcast for 2 seasons from 27 September 1997 to 22 May 1999 with a total of 37 new episodes that aired. For the 2nd season the series was renamed to "SOF: Special Ops Force". Created by Dan Gordon, the series gained a following, but was canceled regardless.
