2x27: The Great Silence recap: In Washington, DC, Senator Howard K. Perkins goes on the radio to announce that three days ago, an area of the Northwest U.S. was stricken by a plague of muteness. The "Great Silence" has spread rapidly since then. Government scientists believe that hydrogenic particles in the atmosphere caused by nuclear testing are responsible. The scientists insist that the malady will soon fade as the particles dissipate. For now, it is spreading at a rate of 500 miles a day and will shortly blanket the country... read more.

1x40: The Duplicates recap: Bruce Calvin is at home reading the want ads, and sees an ad for a man for "highly specialized work." The job offers a high salary and simply requires "nerve." Bruce puts down the paper and paces for a bit, and then calls the number on the ad, trying to get through. He gets an answer and asks for Mr. J., the man in the ad. Mr. J assures him that the job is still open and invites Bruce to come by despite the fact it's almost 8 o'clock. 1x35: The Little Black Bag recap: At home in her cheap apartment, Angie Fulbright is drinking when her husband, Dr. Arthur Fulbright, comes in. She demands to know how much money he's had, and Arthur wearily asks her to stop nagging him. He admits that he hasn't treated a patient in days and is tired, and Angie tells him that she's tired of listening to his excuses. Angie reminds him that he once thought he'd be the world's greatest surgeon but now he's nothing. When Arthur says that it all came down to one accident, Angie reminds him that no one knows about it and he's still supposed to earn a living. She glances nervously at the grandfather clock, which shows the time approaching midnight, and then calls her sister-in-law Virginia.
