As The Man

The Man meets with Allen, who says that his son was spotted on surveillance footage robbing a bank, along with the girl who broke into Allen’s house to steal guns. When Allen complains that his son may get killed before The Man can deliver on the deal and reunite them, The Man points out that was always the case. Meanwhile, Allen’s captain is on his case for not doing his job, and he’s dealing with a girl who think she’s an amateur detective, claiming she’s tracked down a serial killer agoraphobic. The Man feigns astonishment and Allen dismisses it as a crazy theory, but notices The Man’s interest. The detective moves onto protecting his son, and The Man reminds him that he has to protect Terrence, the crooked cop, by warning the man to be careful...

Episode Quotes
Allen: My son’s lying to me about loving me and I’m thinking, what kind of son does that? And I’m thinking, the son of a liar. A thief. I killed a man.
The Man: Yes you did.
Allen: To get what I wanted.
The Man: Yes.
Allen: You told me to find a dirty cop in my precinct.
The Man: Yes.
Allen: To protect him.
The Man: Um-hmm.
Allen: I’m the dirty cop.

The Man: Well, our deal was that you would hear God again. Did you? Are you?
Sister Carmel: Yes.
The Man: What’re you hearing?
Sister Carmel: That I’m going to have a child. Hearing it now. And now...?
The Man: Then our deal here is done.

James: But I didn’t do the thing.
The Man: I never said your son would die if you didn’t do the deed.
James: I almost killed a little girl for you.
The Man: You almost killed a little girl for you. Remember that.
James: You’re a monster.
The Man: You might say... I feed monsters.

Gerald: I was told you can help people with things.
The Man: Yes.
Gerald: You can make deals to give people what they want.
The Man: I can.
Gerald: My daughter. I want my daughter back. Can you do that?
The Man: Melody. You want Melody alive again.
Gerald: Yes.
The Man: That can happen.
