Bob Denver and Herb Edelman are back at the diner, bumbling about in much the same manner as they did last season. For their second start tonight, the two oafs move the diner to a new location with Rufus in charge. Predictably, Rufus makes a mess of things, while Bert takes his wife out on the town in the hope of surprising her with their new hot spot.
After a quarrel, Rufut and Bert divide the diner in two, only to find it's an unworkable way to do business.
Bert suspects Rufus when money vanishes from the cash register.
A finicky health inspector (Vincent Price) finds a fly in his stew and threatens to close the diner.
Claudia sets out to beautify the country side.
Rufus and Bert find their old army captain (Elliott Reid) looking like a beachcomber, so they arrange a benefit reunion for him, unaware that he's a millionaire and a mean one at that.
Rufus and Bert try to become volunteer firemen but Bert has trouble passing the main test-making friends with the fire-house dog.
An old prospector gives a treasure map to Rufus and Bert, sending them with Claudia on a wild search for gold.
Phyllis Diller brightens the situation in the waning days of The Good Guys. She plays a super-sophisticated gourmet editor of a chic magazine who stops in the diner, accidentally, and leaves when she can't get satisfactory service. Of course. Rufus and Bert go all out to woo her and net her endorsement. Warde Donovan, Phyllis's real life husband, is seen as Morris the dippy hanger-on.

Guest star Eddie Mayehoff helps out in a crisis when a chimpanzee named Sam left in Rufus' care turns out to be a great waiter and gets an offer for a restaurant of his own.
Claudia loses her diamond ring and plunges the diner partnership into turmoil over how to send the insurance money.

Herb Edelman, as Bert, gets to do his thing on The Good Guys, which is to act nervous. He gets so distraught, in fact, that his doctor tells him to get away from it all for a few days. The only way he can do that is by putting Rufus (Bob Denver) in charge of the diner, and if he is nervous with Rufus when he is there, wait and see how bad Bert gets when he's not there.
Bert and Claudia try to help Rufus gain confidence when a bully is about to clobber him. All because Rufus has discovered his ancestors were nothing but a bunch of cowards.
Rufus is hypnotised---and Bert forgets the spell-breaking word. A burglar takes advantage of Rufus's problem.
A starving artist offers to pay for a meal by painting pictures for the diner, but his work drives customers away.
