The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour

Show Tidbits
As an attempt to continue the fame of I Love Lucy, these one-hour specials were made to market special guest talent head-to-head with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz' creative genius.

After only three productions, The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour quit the normal live-audience format and filmed in a closed studio only.

Madelyn Martin and Bob Caroll, Jr., the two original writers from I Love Lucy that carried over onwards, quit the writing team after the first season, but remained on as script supervisors.

In 1959, a special episode on The Milton Berle Show was created, with Lucy and Ricky involved at a casino, where they meet with Milton. While the episode contains Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, it is not included as an episode of The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour and is seen even less frequently in reruns than Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour itself.

The series ended after a bitter and heartbreaking divorce between Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz.
